Bruce MacDonald

Congratulations to Bruce MacDonald for being the first A-B Tech Career Pilot Technology candidate from the new A-B Tech Aviation program to receive a private pilot certificate! Yesterday, March 19, Bruce passed his private pilot checkride with Designated Pilot Examiner, David Shields! Click (here) for a write up in the Asheville Citizen-Times.

Though never easy, Mother Nature made this checkride even more of a challenge to complete. Bruce passed the FAA oral exam Wednesday morning and began the checkride with David Wednesday afternoon. Before they could complete the exam, the wind increased to seemingly hurricane strength and they decided (probably wisely) to continue the next day. And so early yesterday morning Bruce successfully completed the few remaining flight maneuvers and was awarded his private pilot certificate!

The WNCPA is especially proud of Bruce because he was one of our 2015 Education Foundation aviation grant award recipients. Bruce began his flying lessons last fall at WNC Aviation and enrolled in the A-B Tech Aviation degree program. Bruce is currently in his second semester at A-B Tech and is already working toward his instrument rating. Congratulations again Bruce, we are all proud of your accomplishment!!!
