Billy Welch Receives French Foreign Legion Award

At the November 17, 2015, WNCPA General Meeting, Nancy Marstall recognized long-time WNCPA member, Billy Welch for his recent award from the French Foreign Legion. Billy was one of four WNC WWII veterans to receive this award on November 11 at the Foundation for the Carolinas in Charlotte. Click (here) for more details.

Created by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, the National Order of the Legion of Honor is the highest honor that can be awarded to a French or foreign national in France. Veterans must have fought in one of the four main campaigns of the Liberation of France: Normandy, Provence, Ardennes, or Northern France.
