Want your name to appear in an accident report? Then don’t attend….

Join us on Tuesday, July 21 if you have, instead, decided to maximize your chances of staying healthy in an intact aircraft! Michael Cavanaugh will speak to us on the topic “Are you still learning to fly?

In his WINGS credit presentation, Mike will discuss ways to remain current and proficient as an aviator, with a special emphasis on flying in Western North Carolina. He will invite us to explore what you are doing to stay current, with reminders about the webinars and activities available for WINGS credit. He’ll discuss checklist usage, aircraft configuration, density altitude, fuel management, stabilized approaches (and go-arounds), weather, aircraft performance, and the magic phrase “Unable.”

Dinner will be served at 6:15 in the Lacy Griffin aviation center, with the presentation to follow. If no parking space is available in front of the building, we have free use of Lot B just north of our meeting place, in the viewing area down the road, or in the small lot catty-cornered to the Lacy Griffin center.

Coming attractions: We will have our annual barbecue dinner in August this year and hear about the recipients of this year’s Educational Foundation grants. On Friday, August 14th we are hosting a group outing to an Asheville Tourist baseball game. Bring $15.00 in cash or via a credit card to the Tuesday meeting to purchase your discount ticket to the game. In September, the WINGS-credit presentation will be on FAR-permitted pilot maintenance.
