Has anyone else noticed that private ownership of an aircraft is getting to be…rather pricey? Sadly, I have witnessed a number of fellow aviators hang up their wings recently because they could no longer afford their beloved hobby.
One practical solution is shared ownership of an aircraft, spreading the expenses of hangars, database subscriptions, annuals, and repairs over a group of people rather that having to choose between food and an airplane. Our June speaker, John Parker from Lifestyle Aviation, will discuss this process, and (for show and tell) he will display two fabulous airplanes that could be shared–a Diamond single and a Diamond twin!
John Parker is a Raleigh native, passionate NC State fan and alum, and a father of two. After 13 years in orthopedic medical device sales, John earned his private pilot and instrument ratings. He now combines his 16 years of sales experience and deep passion for aviation to help others achieve their aviation dreams.
Dinner (Subs) will be served at 6:15 on Tuesday, June 16th in the Lacy Griffin aviation center, with the presentation to follow. If no parking space is available in front of the building, we have free use of Lot B just north of our meeting place, in the viewing area down the road, or in the small lot catty-cornered to the Lacy Griffin center.
We thank those of you who gave input in our survey on topics for future meetings. We will be gathering more of this information in person in our next meeting–our wants are to know what your wants are!
Coming attractions: In July, Mike Cavanaugh will host a WINGS credit presentation, topic TBA. We will have our annual barbecue dinner in August this year and hear about the recipients of this year’s Educational Foundation grants. On Friday, August 14th we are arranging for a group outing to an Asheville Tourist baseball game. In September, the WINGS-credit presentation will be on FAR-permitted pilot maintenance.
