November Meeting: “Menacing Mountain Weather” with WLOS meteorologist Meghan Danahey

Our Tuesday, November 15th meeting of the WNC Pilot’s Association should be a great one! WLOS meteorologist Meghan Danahey will lecture on the greatest dangers of mountain weather, and answer any weather questions that may puzzle you.

We will meet for Subway sandwiches and “hanger flying” at 6:15, with the presentation starting at 7:00. The meeting is in the Lacy Griffin aviation center. Parking continues to be affected by construction; if no space is available in front of the building, use the spaces in the adjacent maintenance yard (gate 24) or in the viewing area down the road.

Our next fly-out lunch at noon on Saturday November 19th is at Greenville Downtown airport (GMU, 36 NM miles south of AVL). If you are going and have an empty seat, please invite another member to tag along with you. Decisions about whether conditions are safe for the trip are always the responsibility of the pilot-in-command of the aircraft.

Please join us Tuesday evening on December 13th for our annual holiday dinner at Bay Breeze Seafood Restaurant, 1830 Asheville Hwy in Hendersonville. You and your guests will be able to order off the menu to give maximum flexibility to your dinner plans. Our speaker will be Dennis Dunlap, co-founder of the WNC Air Museum in Hendersonville. Dennis will entertain us with a talk on the founding of the museum, and his memorable coast-to-coast flight in an open cockpit Stearman. Dennis is a very entertaining storyteller, so the presentation should be great!

Membership renewal is just around the corner! Nancy will be sending renewal letters soon, and the website will soon be updated to permit online payment of 2023 dues. If you know any fellow pilots who are not yet members, please encourage them to join us!
