From Chuck Buckland at Signature:
Good afternoon AVL Customers and Staff,
The first day of Spring is rapidly approaching. In observance of the first day of Spring on March 20th, we are hosting our annual Spring cookout Thursday March 19, 2020 from 1200-1400. Please join us for hotdogs and hamburgers, chips, potato salad and some drinks. On site with us during this event will be Epic Aviation. They are our fuel supplier as well as a partner in business. They will be on site to chat with customers about the Signature Aviation Credit Card and the benefits it has for customers as they travel. We will have plenty of food, giveaways and door prizes.
During our Spring cookout, we will also be kicking off a Food Drive. Manna Foodbank will supply the collection box location. Please bring a non-perishable item to donate.
In closing, one of our employees, General Manager at GSO Donald Brookshire, has a child “Grant” that is suffering from Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. Phelan-McDermid Syndrome(PMS) is a rare genetic condition caused by a deletion or other structural change of the terminal end of chromosome 22 in the 22q13 region or a disease-causing mutation of the SHANK3 gene. Some symptoms include: hypotonia (low or weak muscle tone) and developmental delay (not achieving developmental milestones such as rolling over, sitting up, walking, or talking on time), moderate to severe developmental and intellectual impairment, most do not develop functional language, and about 75% have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavioral issues may stem from autism (e.g., repetitive behaviors), from poor communications skills, or from an unknown origin. Sleep disorders are commonly reported, as are difficulties with toilet training, and problems with eating. About 40% of people develop seizures.
We are humbly asking for any donations that can be presented to the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation on behalf of Grant to continue research and support for this impairment.
Thanks very much
