Nova Scotia Adventure!

On Tuesday morning, May 12, WNCPA members Don Short, Garry Hancock, John Mitchell, and Bob Tucker departed Asheville on an aero-journey north to Nova Scotia. Flying in Don's 182 and John and Bob's Mooney, they first overnighted in Cape May, NJ. and then the next night in Martha's Vineyard. After several long flying days and too many lobster dinners, our friends are finally home! Check out some of their adventures below.

adventure cape may

From John: "Got to Cape May around 11:30. The winds were enough to make walking upwind difficult." But leave it to the boys to find an air museum!

adventure marthas vinyard

From Donald, "On Martha's Vineyard for the night. Great flight over JFK airport and along the sound coast."

 adventure edgartown

Edgartown, Mass.

adventure donald

A keeper! Donald showing off his best face.

adventure bar harbor

Per John, "Day Two. Excellent weather on flight from Martha's Vineyyard to Bar Harbor. CAVU!"

adventure arcadia

Sandy beach at Acadia National Park. Hmmmm, doesn't look like beach weather just yet!

adventure departing mvy

Around 0900 on Thursday leaving Martha's Vineyard.  We flew east of Boston at 9,000. It was hazy and I couldn't get a great shot of Boston. The day before we flew just south of Manhattan and directly over Kennedy. I got a couple quick glimpses of Manhattan and was able to see directly down on Kennedy, but most of the rest of the time I was swallowed up in the clouds.

adventure arriving bar harbor

Our approach in to Bar Harbor gave us a good view of the islands dotting the coast. It was hazy as you can see.

adventure dirty snowd

The town had so much snow they didn't know what to do with it. The environmentalists didn't want it dumped in the bay. This is what is left. By the way, on the flight to Hulton, Me. Mount Katadin was covered with snow, a spectacular site!

adventure don

Check out Donald doing his flight planning and sporting our WNCPA apparel!

More of Peggy's Cove. And John remembers, "I took a similar picture back in the late 70s. Little has changed except for more tourists."
